Casting Call!

If you were a writer/composer, what setting and what kinds of characters would you choose for a story of “star-crossed lovers”?

There would be a poor family and a rich family. The poor family's son would fall in love with the rich daughter. The daughter would be snobby and spoiled while the son would be outgoing and charming. The rich family would not believe that the son reaches their daughter's standards and high expectations. Yet they would still fall in love.

If I was a writer, and I had to write a love story, I would have the setting in a small town and in the modern time. The characters would be a troubled boy who hadn't found his path in life and a young preacher's daughter. The girl and boy would meet at their local Catholic school and would start to fall in love. The girl's father would not approve, for the boy was not a devoute believer. They would still meet each other and continue to fall deeper in love, until the girl found out she was dying of a deadly disease. This would not affect their love, because the love between them was so strong, that they would fight through the difficult time.

I agree with Ana. I think that her book would be original and has a great storyline. Seth

If I were to write a love story, I would make it be about a woman who was had just gotten through a divorce and she would meet a man who was ten or fifteen years younger than her. Their relationship would be taboo and would have disposition from their friends. Even though the setting would be modern day Manhattan, there would still be dissaproval from close ties.

If I was a writer I would set make this story as beleivable as possible. It would have two normal families, middle class live in the suburb type of people. Two high school kids. They're unsure what they want, have an on-off relationship; they break up go to college but still stay connected. But it takes some kind of tragedy to make them relize what they had. But by then its too late. I think it should be like this to show that ther isn't always a happy ending but that you should always be able to cherish the happy times that you already have had.

If I was to write a love story, i would set the setting in two small towns in Texas, where high school sports are a big part of life for a high school student. The boy would be from one town, and the girl would be from another. The two schools they went two would have a very, very strong rivalry between them. They would meet at one of the games, and fall in love. Their friends would hate that they liked each other, and threaten to not be friends with them anymore. In the end, everything would work out and they would live happily ever after!

If I were to write a love story, this is how it would go.

The girl and guy would be childhood friends that loved playing in the dirt together and swimming and playing tag together and their parents would be best friends, too. They wouldn't realize their feelings for one another until they were in their teens and the guy started a relationship with a snobby, stuck up girl. In response, the sweet childhood girl friend would be jealous, but still caring. Then eventually, she would confront him about his "true" feelings. Then, he would say the same and dump the snob. Then of course, they would fall in love and live happily ever after!

If I would write a love story it would be romantic, yet realistic, tuthful, but still caring. Because thats what I beleive true love really is. Like a lot of the girls that have posted already, it would be in a small town and the two people would fall in love overcoming seemingly impossible odds. Kind of like the Notebook.

If I was going to write a love story it would be like Presley's. There would be two towns that have had a rivalry between them for years. A boy would meet a girl and they would fall in love, but they would have to hide there relationship from everyone because of the rivalry. In the end they would decide that their happiness is what mattered not the rivalry. Their relationship would bring the towns together even though they would resist.

There will be to different people from to different cultures. For example the girl from the south and the boy from the north. They would meet at some kind of a meeting and fall in love. When they decided to meet each others families the families start to fight and argue. They overcame their differences and still fell in love.

If I were writing a love story, the kids would be teenagers in high school. They would be dating and something would happen that makes them realize how happy they were together

There would be two people who are both married. They aren't happy with their lives, and they both work in the same office. They begin talking and find out that neither one is happy in their marriage. They fall in love quickly and have to keep their affair a secret, because neither want to hurt their spouse. Driving home in his car, they have a car accident and are both killed, concealing the secret from their spouses but also giving suspicion to the question of why they were in the car together.

I want to know why everyones love story has two people from different cultures. It seems like you are all taking this idea that has already been idolized and repeated with movies and plays such as Romeo and Juliet that follow this same format. It also seems that all of the movies that are "chick flicks" have the same sequence and there is always a happy ending. This seems to be the pattern that most people are following. Does anyone else see this?

If you have anything to say just write.

Yeah Robert. It is the same sequence ebery time. Because everyone wants the hollywood version of love. Thats the romantic side. The "chick flicks" are what people want to see, because in true life, happpily ever after doesn't happen very often. Maybe because we don't want to face the fact that rarely does someone get the complete fairy tale.
